The new piano album by leading Czech pianist, educator, and composer Jakub Metelka (b. 1986) contains fifteen recital pieces. These are short and witty character pieces, melodic, tonal, and excellently suited for piano performance. The young virtuoso will not only practice their technical skills (easy to intermediate difficulty) but also their musical imagination in capturing the moods of each piece. The descriptive program titles and accompanying illustrations by Andrea Tachezy serve as a great aid. The album is a suitable complement to the author's internationally successful Modern Piano Etudes (BA 11559).
